About Ear Candles

Ear candles are hollow tubes made from cotton and various waxes. The pointed end fits comfortably in the ear whilst the candle is lit. Treatment takes 5 - 10 minutes per ear. They are intended as a therapeutic healing method that can be used as a self-help remedy for many common ailments at home or by alternative health professionals.

Ear Candling is intended to draw upon healing energy and is considered to be an ancient remedy for a variety of ailments. No one knows the true first origins of Ear Candles, although it is known that to achieve similar results Native Americans used corn husks, Indians used papyrus reeds, and in Italy, they used cheesecloth. These stories have been passed on down to us for generations. Diaries translated from native Africans indicate that it was widely used in Africa and the Mesoamerican cultures of the Maya and Aztec are also known for using ear coning for therapeutic and ritual purposes.

Buyer's Guide

It is important to make sure you purchase high quality candles, as not all are created equal! Look for products that use 'food grade wax' as it is an exceptionally clean burning wax. It also has a much lower carbon rate compared to less expensive, unfiltered paraffins and therefore leaves a minimal amount of residue behind after being burned.

Ear CandlesIf you're beginning to research ear candles we always recommend you seek out those that are made from quality ingredients. Also those that are hand crafted out of unbleached muslin, the highest quality food grade wax, and unprocessed beeswax. The beeswax used in higher quality ear candles often has been sourced from natural materials and has been blended with essential oils and herbs. We recommend Ear Candles which have been ethically produced such as Harmony Cone.
